Our first intern is leaving for Peru!

This weekend Anaïs Van Malderen leaves for our reforestation project in Peru to do a 3-month internship in the Forest Conservation and Management Department of Camino Verde, our reforestation partner in Peru.

Anaïs is a master’s student in “Human Ecology. This specialization is part of the Master of Science in Biology at the VUB and focuses on the interactions between humans and their natural environment.
In addition to that, she has a great passion for biological conservation, socio-ecology, tropical forest systems and climate change mitigation.

This is not the first time Anaïs will be in Peru as in 2018 she worked as a volunteer in a dog shelter where she provided general and medical care to abandoned dogs.

During her internship, Anaïs will learn different planting techniques, classify and register trees in the blockchain but also contribute to the development of an application that links the investor to the reforestation center by classifying trees based on photos in the field.
Next to that, she will create GIS (Geographic Information System) maps of the threats of deforestation in the region + analyze the threats and benefits of agroforestry for wildlife.

Last but not least, by sharing her photos, videos and stories with us, Anaïs will be able to show how the efforts of Go Forest and all our clients are generating more and more of an impact.

We wish you a fantastic and instructive internship in one of the most beautiful and evocative places on earth!
