We plant in the Chaco, Argentina

The Chaco is Latin America’s second-largest natural area, with almost 1.1 million square kilometers. It runs through Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay, and a small part of Brazil. However, more than 500 000 hectares of forest have been lost since 2014.

We create added value beyond the mere fact of planting trees.

The biodiversity loss is tremendous and the need for reforestation is urgent. The reforestation program here does not only address biodiversity challenges, but also social issues, by creating the conditions allowing indigenous communities to thrive, while recovering biodiversity. This region is one of the most diversified in terms of cultural groups.

Go Forest works in cooperation with Alianza Wichi, who has been co-designing a regeneration strategy together with indigenous communities in the Chaco Region in Argentina for the past three years. We believe we are permanently building an honest relationship with the different ethnic cultures of the region, which allowed us to set healthy foundations for such an ambitious reforestation project.

Specifically, the projects consist of strengthening, sustaining, and connecting existing family farming projects in four indigenous communities in the vicinity of Tartagal, department of San Martin, in the province of Salta (Argentina), with a view to developing their resilience to the destruction of their natural and cultural habitat.

There is a holistic strategy where the tree is part of a broader picture, creating added value beyond the mere fact of planting trees, because we intend to solve multiple issues through a holistic approach:

  • Generating revenues for the local communities
  • Regenerating biodiversity (fauna, flora, soils, groundwater aquifers)
  • Food production (direct and indirect)
  • Bringing legal support to the territories to avoid further deforestation
  • Contributing to the global fight against the effects of the climate crisis (carbon sink).
  • Collaborate to strengthen the social links of indigenous communities

We plant trees with impact

Protecting and restoring our ecosystems should be on top of all of our lists. But having the proper knowledge is crucial to make a long-term change. From location, to timing, to care, there is a lot more to it than meets the eye, for a tree to make maximum impact.

Agroforestry

We mainly have regenerative agriculture projects to stimulate biodiversity and sustainable food production and we execute reforestation projects with indigenous and traditional agroforestry techniques.

Care for communities

At Go Forest, we don’t just plant trees. We engage in much more, such as ensuring sustainable support for local communities. We do so by using the UN Sustainable Development Goals, which serve as a blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and in the future. Depending on the region and the project, you’ll be supporting different SDGs. Our project in Argentina focuses on the following SDGs:

Let's plan(t) the future together.

Forests are an important player in the fight against global warming. A large portion of all the CO2 in the atmosphere is absorbed by the forests and stored in the form of organic carbon in the wood and soil.

Unfortunately, deforestation and land use change also contribute 17% to the greenhouse effect. One of the most important and simplest ways to counteract global warming is to create greater biodiversity by planting forests. This is exactly what we at Go Forest, in partnership with various companies, are doing.

Our projects

We don’t only plant your trees; we take care of them as well!

Tanzania

This project focuses on restoring forests in the Magamba Nature Forest Reserve that were burnt down in the past. The planting, maintenance, and monitoring are done by the local communities.

Argentina

This project does not only address biodiversity challenges, but also social issues, by creating the conditions allowing indigenous communities to thrive, while recovering biodiversity.

Europe

We execute reforestation projects on sites in Belgium, Ireland, Portugal, Spain, Italy, France, Czech Republic, United Kingdom…. Projects in other European countries can be requested.

Madagascar

Madagascar’s biodiversity is a very special one. The country has developed its own ecosystem and magnificent wildlife since it split from the African continent 160 million years ago.

Belgium

Thousands of hectares of forests are disappearing in Belgium. We make our rural territories resilient again by executing reforestation projects all over the country! Support sustainable agriculture and forestry in Belgium.

Armenia

In Armenia, reforestation projects fight desertification, combat soil erosion, preserve the water and empower local communities, creating jobs and increasing their income.
